Feels Like Winter!

Sorry I haven't posted in a while, these college applications are so burdensome, I haven't been able to thoroughly clean my room in weeks, it's pretty bad. I'll get better after November, I promise!

I know I'm not the only one who's been looking at the blog FashionToast.com. I love Rumi's since of style. She's recently been wearing lots of oversized sweaters and I love that look. I don't think i could pull it off as well as Rumi has, because I don't have the same body shape as her, I'm pretty short and i feel like a huge oversized sweater would swallow me up, but at the same time they look SO cozy! I've been looking for sweaters like the ones Rumi's been wearing, but the only ones i could find for the longest were on Topshop, which I can't afford. I finally got the bright idea to check Victoria's Secret, I always overlook them, because I only think of bras and panties and PINK when i think of them. I went through the sweaters section and actually found quite a few i like and can afford.

I love the little holes in this sweater! Only $39.

I'd like this one in black or grey, only $49.

I'd like this one in black too! $59, and this is the sweater that most reminds me of the sweaters I've been seeing Rumi wearing.

This one I'm flip-flopping on because this is a nice peach color, but there's also a black, yeah i know too much black, but I love it because it matches with everything in my closet. Only $29, so I might end up getting 2 if I can't choose a color.
I'm also thinking of getting some black Doc Martens, because my light pink don't match with everything, but I love Docs, I feel like I can do anything in them. Still I have like 5 pairs of boots, not even kidding, everything from booties to knee highs.
I've got Friday off, and SAT subject tests on Saturday, but I'm hoping I can get some shopping in and hopefully an outfit post! I hope to see you guys soon.

Reaching Into the Past

Sorry I haven't posted in like two weeks guys. I'm having trouble with college applications and school and getting my license and all sorts of crap. Right now I'm supposed to be reading Heart of Darkness but i can't help but fall asleep when I do, I'll try again, but at the moment i feel this is more important.
Have you guys ever overheard someone talking about something they wanted to buy and once you heard that you wanted one too? I heard this girl in my AP Literature class talking about getting a Navajo Print Cloak from Forever21. When she said that it made me want one too, bundling up in something colorful like that during the cold months would be the best. I went to Forever21's website, but didn't see anything about a Navajo Cloak, so i googled it. I found a few on websites like Etsy, but i wasn't willing to pay $150+ for one and I found a website that sells colorful Navajo print fabric, so now I want to make one. I think it will be a good, simple project to work on on weekends and keep me sane during my senior year, which seems to be full of work and tests and no fun hanging out with friends.
I feel like I've been avoiding the Native American print items when it comes to fashion, because in Georgia people talk about how every black person says they have Cherokee ancestors. I know i have Native American ancestors ( my friends tell me i have Asian eyes, but I have no Asian ancestors, unless you count Native Americans who crossed the bearing strait), but I hate falling under stereotypes or people thinking I'm saying it just to fit in. Now i'm more comfortable with not caring what other people think, which is good. I'm planning on doing a mitochondrial DNA mapping in my AP Biology class, so when i get the results I'll tell you guys if I have any asain ancestors, I'm kind of excited, but college apps and homework has me bummed, oh well, all part of school and such...

Below is the $160 cloak i was talking about. It's a simple design, the link is here. If if were $50 or less i would get it, but I think i can make one for less and I think i'd want a more colorful print.

I'll try to post more regularly, but I can't promise it. i'm trying to get all my college applications in before the end of October so i can have it done with and spend the rest of my senior year worrying about grades, graduating, hanging out with friends, and what dress I'll wear to prom. Shallow, i know, but all this work's making my edgy and kinda mean to people, and i hate being mean topeople who don't deserve it.
I hope to c u guys soon!

Dragon*Con 2010!!!!!!!!!!

Just wanted to say this early, sorry for not taking a ton of pictures, the first day I had to stand in line for 4hrs to get my badge and didn't feel like taking pictures, it was way to hot outside to be doing that. I didn't go the second day because i got sick, or Monday because I ran out for cash. All these photos are from when I went Sunday. A lot of the rooms i went into did not allow photography, and I spent most of Sunday avoiding this guy that wanted to know if I wanted to "hang out later", he was really creepy.Anyway, I guess I start with the few photos I took at Dragon*Con, once again I'm sorry, and also I'm mad at myself, because I knew i should have taken more photos.

I feel like I took more photos than this because I saw so much, but I guess I didn't If i go again next year I'll be sure to take more photos, but I'm not sure if i'll go next year, mostly because I don't know where I'll be next year, college wise.

I spent over $60 at Dragon*Con which isn't unbelievable, the two shirts I bought were $22 each, so that's the bulk of the money I spent, but I love the original Star Trek so I had to get some shirts. I'd have gotten a a Firefly or Serenity t-shirt, but I didn't see one i liked and I didn't have enough money. I also wanted a shirt from the show The Big Bang Theory, but i didn't really look at the shirts, because by the time I noticed them I only had $10, not enough for a t-shirt.
Yay! Star Trek! I love the original Star Trek! Yeah, I know, I such a dweeb, but I'm happy, so ha!
I love Spock! In my celebrity/character dream family (I'll create a family tree for you guys one day) He's one of my 27 grandfathers (I don't i have that many yet, but there are a lot)
I found a couple of pairs of studs I love! There pair on the left are ankhs, the Egyptian symbol for eternal life (if I'm remembering correctly) and the pair on the right are ying and yang signs in the shape of hearts.I also found these feather earrings with ankhs on them , I'm addicted to ankhs and aren't the stripes on the feathers cool. This part of my new obsession. I found this women that sold ear cuffs and all I could afford was one, so i go this beauty. i love how it looks on me! I's also inspired me to make wire ear cuffs to wear on the ears, they're pretty cool and I'm wondering if I could sell some wire ear cuffs to make some money, but we'll see.

All in all, Dragon*Con was pretty fun, but if i go again I know i want to go to the stuff early in the morning and late at night, because that's when they have all the cool dance parties and movie gatherings. I didn't go to any of that stuff this year because my parents worry to much, they didn't even know i was going alone until the day before and that made them worry even more. If i go next year i'll be 18, and if i have a way to get money i may just get a hotel room and say in a hotel near the convention all four days, which would makes things a lot easier and allow me to do more.

Recent Purchases and Song Addiction

There a few things that I've bought recently that i haven't shown you guys. I bought a bunch of stuff from Dragon*con, which was the last four days (so much fun!), but that'll be a different post.
A couple of weeks ago i found a leather jacket for $15 dollars at a thrift store near my school. I love it, I thinks it's 80s, but it could be 90s, I'm not sure.

What do you guys think? I think it was a great find!

I'm just now realizing this is the only thing I've bought recently, that's not from Dragon*Con. Hm.. I thought there was more.

Anyway, like a lot of other people I'm addict to "Teenage Dream" by Katy Perry, what a great song. I'm not in love the music video and the 'sex' scene, but it's a great song and I'd love to have a beach party with all my friends and the guy i like, minus the stripping off our clothes part.

RoaR!

RoaR (Romance on a Rocketship) is my new obsession. I have literally had this song on repeat all day, including listening to it during my classes at school today, which is a no-no at my school (and most schools right?), but I couldn't help myself. i'm totally posting the vid on here for you guys, in fact I'll do it right now!

The singer from RoaR is so good looking, and I LOVE his little smirk.

Anyway, my friends reminded me about homecoming that's coming up in September. I'm going to wear the same dress i wore two years ago, and just get new accesories, so i can save money for a prom dress. I love my friends, i really do, and a lot of people that love their friends like i do want to go to the same college as them, but for some reason I don't feel like that. It be cool if some of my friends and I went to the same school, but I don't think any of us are even applying to the same schools, except the ones in Georgia because they cost less since we're in state and the state has a scholarship for students who have a 3.5 GPA or better.
Anyway I really want this shirt, and it's only $14 (but it'll have to wait until after this weekend, because this weekend is Dragon*Con!!!!! YAY!!!!!!!!!!). This shirt isn't the best band tee i've ever seen, but i'm not saying it's bad, it's just that I like this group so much, even though discovered them only yesterday, that I don't mind have a shirt from them that isn't amazing, but having the shirt represents how much i like the band, do you guys understand what I'm saying? Anyway, I want the shirt and I'll pair it with my new leather jacket that I got for $15 from a thrift store near my school. I need to take pictures of it and put them on here!

My Friend Got Me Sick

Isn't the worst when your friends get you sick? My friend gave me a "summer" cold and it's the worst cold i've EVER had! My nose is runny, i have a killer headache, i'm feeling oh so lethargic and I don't know how long it will last. Some my friend is getting cookies from me tomorrow though, weird huh? Really i'm bring cookies to the people in my AP Bio class and she's one of them so,..., yeah.
Anyway i've been acting really Asian-wanna-be lately. My brother got me into K-Pop last year and what started as listening to the occasional song has turned into an addiction that will soon overtake my small mp3 player. I've also been looking at yesstyle.com, but not for clothes, their clothes wouldn't fit me in a million years. They have a huge selection of purses, including tons of designer knock-offs for very reasonable prices. They have knock offs of the classic chanel black quilted texture hand bag, which i want to get, and a knock off of the coach bag that Karla from Karla's Closet (karlascloset.blogspot.com) designed, which i think i'll also get. Their version is like $32, compared to the Coach version which is WAY more, sorry i don't remember the actual price. I'm tried just adding one photo instead of the whole group, but it won't let me, and it makes the photos super small, but if your interested i can put the links up, just leave me a note in the comments section.

I've also been looking for a new pair of sound-canceling headphones. i was going to go for a pair of skullcandy headphones, but while on yesstyle i saw some of the cutest headphones ever from a company called mix-style. The problem is the pair i want are $70 on yesstyle's website, which i'm not sure i'm willing to pay. I can find them on ebay for less, but i'm not sure if i can find them in the color i want. They have tons of look alikes on ebay, but most are knock offs that aren't that great, supposedly, that are priced between $20 and $2, so i don't know what i'll do. These are the pair i want, i love them, they show off more of my style.
Last, but not least, I've been obsessed with this song and the msic video, i have been watching and listening to it non-stop. Very few Asians can pull of the blond hair AND the guy-liner, but looks so adorable, and he's such a great dancer!

The Japanese Are More Daring

Spent a couple of hours looking at a Japanese street style website today and realized something:
Japanese street style isn't bad or tacky it's just more daring than what most of us are used to.

I didn't like everything i saw on the website (including guy-liner and guys in skirts), but there were some looks i liked so i saved tons of pictures, which are now cluttering my desktop, i may have to make an inspiration board in my room. Here are some of the photos i saved from the website. Pretty sure the website is japanesestreets.com (srry, i closed it down after i was done looking and didn't start the post 'til later)

These two looks aren't really any different from what you may see in the U.S., but I still love these simple looks.

Love all the nude and flowy material, just gorgeous, but not really over the top, you know?

I love the pattern mixing and pops of color, even though my wardrobe is being taken over by more and more black and white.

I want to copy the look of the girl on the bottom sooo bad, it's just adorable.

I love the layering!

I LOVE booth these looks, especially the on on the bottom, i can't get enough of leather jackets and batman T-shirts.

I love black outfits with pops of color!

I love the mixing of prints, textures and colors in these looks.

Japanese street style is pretty inspiring, and even though I won't be wearing some outfits as extreme (for lack of a better word) as theirs, I do want to take some ideas from them to amp up my own style.
